Our History

2007
saw the celebration of our Golden Jubilee on our current site. The present church started being built in 1956 and was completed in 1957. Maybe you are old enough to remember it being built? Perhaps you can remember the days when it had a tower?

This committment and sacrifice by the Methodists of that day has left us with a spacious building to enjoy on a pleasant site. Methodists were in Torrisholme way before then though. You can read about our history in the link below to our Golden Jubilee book. It tells of times past and present and shows how the church has developed during that time, afterall, we often think of church as the building we meet in but it is just as much about the people who meet there, we are the church.

M
aybe you have stories of your own about TMC during that time. Perhaps you were Christened or Married here. Perhaps you attended the Sunday School or Junior Church. Maybe you have moved away from the area or are not meeting with us anymore. Whatever your memories of your time with us we hope they are brought back to you as you read through our book.

A
nd don't forget - if you are one of those who used to come but have not done for a while you are always welcome here to come and join with us again - we can assure you of a warm welcome as we all tread along the road of faith together!

Get a low-resolution version of the booklet here. It would really help us if you would save the booklet onto your own PC to look at whenever you like rather than downloading it many times from here, this ensures we don't exceed our allowance and are charged extra.
